One sunny morning in Virginia Beach when Mark and I were on our honeymoon 50 years ago – I had the TV on in our hotel room and was getting ready for our day of travel when a simple commercial came on asking people to give the Word of God into all the nations by simply giving to their ministry.

The Lord captured my heart for this so powerfully and I went straight to Mark and asked if we could start supporting them. Yes, I had been a Christian since I was 16 (6 years) and yes, I went to church every Sunday even through college. I was about to start my first year as an elementary school teacher and was newly married. Mark and I began to support them at $25 a month for many years, in fact, until we became a ministry ourselves to the world. Now our ministry is in 120 countries and our son is the head of it.

We have helped other ministries get started and many people to serve the Lord and help others as well through health, education, building, and literature projects that come out of prayer and loving other people to the Lord.

Firstlight International is a ministry that my husband and I have invested in over the years and we believe in their work. We have, one or the other of us, served on their board of directors since its beginning. Dan and Debbie are such magnets for Christ and they teach the word of God with amazing results.
