Who We Are
Firstlight International is a registered public charity 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation. It was first started in 1997 as an affiliate ministry of the South East Asia Prayer Center (SEAPC) and on March 16, 2001 received tax-exempt status as a registered public charity. Our experience leading up to the establishment of Firstlight International and since that time spans more than 30 years of full time Christian service on 5 continents in 25 different countries.
As an evangelistic and training ministry, Firstlight International is committed to helping churches and ministries bring fulfillment to the great commission particularly in the nations of Southeast Asia. Over the past fifteen years, Firstlight International has been effective in pursuing its purposes in six countries in the region of Southeast Asia.
Where We are Located
Presently, we are located in the country of Thailand where we have been living and working for fifteen years. Thailand borders several countries in Southeast Asia namely: Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. Our home in the city of Chiang Mai provides a wonderful base of operations for just about everything we do in the countries of Southeast Asia. The headquarters of Firstlight International is located in Pittsburgh Pa., U.S.A.
Our Vision and Strategy
Our vision and strategy for working in the countries of Southeast Asia involves prayerwalking targeted cities for evangelism, training national workers for Christian service and, helping the nationals to plant new churches among responsive people. In Thailand this is being done through the platform of a social foundation, reaching out to areas where there are few or no churches with programs to assist at risk children to stay in school and with their care givers, as well as community development programs through health, education and micro-economic businesses. This is being done through strategic partnerships with local churches and ministries who have a desire to reach souls, make disciples and plant new churches. It is proving to be a viable approach for effective ministry in places where we serve.
How is Firstlight International funded?
Firstlight International is supported by a team of contributors who pray, and others who are making their contribution in a financial way. Individuals, churches, organizations and businesses are joining the team and each one has an important part in everything we do. For those living in the US all financial contributions are US tax deductible and receipted annually.
