FWF House Dedication

Mae Swang Jit

Celebrating with food

Recently, we held a house dedication ceremony for a new home that was built for one of our Families Without Fathers (FWF) families in Seka, Thailand. You may recall that we had hosted a building team from Kentucky sponsored by His Servants Ministries (HSM), to come and build this home in October of last year. This building team did an amazing job. A Thai contractor picked up where they left off and completed the house in January this year. An amazing story of how the Lord provides for His children.

What we started with

We first meet Mae Swang Jit at one of our first medical outreaches that we did in partnership with His Servants Ministries (HSM) in late November of 2007. She had first accepted Christ during that time, and we soon got to know her rather well. As part of the follow to the outreaches, and her decisions to follow the Lord, a new cell group was opened up at her home. Through weekly visits we learned that she was raising her granddaughter Fah (at that time nine years old) and her life was pretty tuff. Since that time, they have become part of our Families Without Fathers (FWF) project in the district and they lives are being changed.

During the house dedication celebration

Because of a back operation that had gone wrong, Mae Swang Jit lost proper use of her back – she is not able to

straighten up or properly use her legs. For long distances outside of her home, she would have to be carried by someone or put into a wheelchair to get around. Most days, she stays in her home and scoots around on her own, on the floor. She is an amazing person and she loves the Lord very much. She has read her Bible completely through three times, she’s been water baptized and she attends church services/cell groups regularly. She also likes to pray and to invite people into her home to share Christ with them. She is wonderful witness in her community of God’s great love.

The house that she lived in was a very humble place. Made of wood and tin, it consisted of many levels which made it difficult for her to get around. The house was kept clean and I always felt welcome each time I visited her.
One day, I noticed an uncompleted structure to the right of her wooden house. It had looked like someone had begun to build a house but they weren’t able to finish. The structure was a simple slab of concrete with cement columns sticking up that would support a roof.

Team

After some time in prayer, I felt led to ask further about what I saw and to ask whos structure was it, and what was it was for. Sure enough, she told us that her family years ago started to build her a new house – one level, but they were unable to finish it. That was close to ten years ago.

After learning all of that, we began a three year process of putting together a building plan and a budget to cover the costs. It was a great learning experience of trusting the Lord to provide the needs for a building team and building costs. We are grateful for Dr. Fred Martin, & HSM for providing the funding ($7,000.00) for this project and for building team that came over to do the work. Without your help, we could not have done it. Thank you so much!

On March 10, 2012 this house was dedicated to the Lord

Progress being made

with an opening celebration ceremony. Prayer was offered on behalf of this family and for the many people who helped to make it possible. It is now in the Hands of the Lord as shelter for this family. The Lord cares for the orphan and the widow.
