“…for when I am weak then I am strong.” II Corinthians 12:10 KJV

In the journey of this life I have so many times found refuge in the verse above. I have felt weak, uncovered, unworthy before the Lord, before the task that was before me. But from the beginning, He has made it clear to me that anything good that has EVER happened in my life came because of HIM, not me. Because He loves me. Because He delights to show Himself strong on my behalf. Because He understands my frailty and my faults, and looks past them, steps over them, to rescue me, to lift me, to empower me. To make me strong.

This is the miracle of the Christian life. Not that WE are good, but that His goodness transforms us. Not that WE are mighty, but that His power resides in us. Not that WE are strong, but that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

The amplified Bible says it in such a way as to bring grateful tears to my eyes:
“My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation; for My power is shown perfectly in your weakness.”

Ah! Father! What kind of love is this? What kind of kindness? What kind of patience? I can feel as if I am failing, failing, failing, but when I come to my senses and look up: There You are. Your eyes are full of love and tender mercy for me. Your hands are strong to lift me. Your redeeming grace toward me is everything I need. You make everything all right again.

Oh, God! Never have I (we) needed this abundant mercy more, this amazing grace more than right now. RIGHT NOW, Lord. In this year, 2020, our weakness and human frailty is more on open spectacle for all the world to see. The forces of darkness rage around us. We are lost at sea.

But. YOU are the peace in the whirlwind. You breathe Your breath into our sails and set us on course towards Your safe harbors. You lead us onward; we need not fear.

And we remember to pray for those who are also feeling the raging storms: for all who are sick. For all who are afraid. For all who are angry. For all who are lonely. For all who have lost hope, lost faith, lost peace. We pray to YOU, oh Lord, Maker of Heaven and Earth. YOU alone, can heal us and restore us. You alone.

I thank You, I PRAISE You, that when I am weak, my dearest Savior/Friend, then: You. Are. Strong. Amen.
