During the deep snows of winter, Dan put up a bird feeder and a deer feed in the gully behind our house. We had been seeing large groups of deer chewing the scrub from the side of trees and he felt it might be good to give them something until the snow and ice were gone.
Different families of deer came mornings and evenings to feed. The minute the snows were gone, so were they! What a wonder!
