Make no mistake. The Lord is doing a GREAT thing among young people in this generation. I have never been more encouraged for the future of the mission of the Kingdom of God in the earth as I am when I have the chance to meet with, share with, pray with and worship with this new generation coming up.
This year was our third year to go to Shekinah Camp in Minnesota, an annual camp that meets each August. It is a camp that was started by the children of Hmong/Lao immigrants to this country, and it is still youth organized and youth run. I am always impressed with the depth of commitment and love from the leaders for the younger ones, coming from all over the country. They have both a shared history and a shared experience that is unique to their community. They also have a shared destiny, which is a driving force that brings them back together, year after year, to seek after God together….to find that destiny. Because, let me tell you, people…when these young people pray, when they worship, the power and presence of the Almighty SHOWS UP!
Dan and I will never forget our first time at this camp when the evening worship began…and the presence of God poured down on a group of young people HUNGRY for God. Hungry to know Him. Hungry to follow Him. Hungry to find His will for their lives. It has been an amazing privilege to have the opportunity to speak into their lives, and to even welcome them to missions’ experiences. Thank You, Lord! We are so blessed to know them and be a part of this.
