Thai local officials invite our church worship band to participate in an annual event.
Thailand is an amazing place share the gospel. Recently, in the city of Nong Bua Lam Phu, Thailand local Thai officials invited the worship band of our Firstlight Fellowship Churches to participate in an annual event held at one of Thailand’s national parks in a mountain area overlooking the city, and province. This event happens annually around Valentine’s Day. The Thais are great at finding ways to have fun no matter what the occupation. Only this time, they invited the ‘a different’ kind of group to participate in this year’s program.
The great thing about this location is that it’s not an uncommon place for us as Christians, either. We have spent time there praying over the city regularly throughout the year. I can still remember praying from that same location just as we were starting to plant a church there, almost three years ago. It is a place where we go often to pray for the city and to intercede for the lost. Even in November of last year, we took Dr. George Rooney and Dr. Benjamin Brenner up there with us, to pray over the area before holding several eye care clinics in district. During that time, there were 22 decisions for Christ and 16 water baptisms in one month. It’s in those moments in prayer that the victories are won in the Spirit in our efforts to win cities for Christ. We are still looking for so much more.
As each of these opportunities come to us, we see them as an ‘open door’ to bring Christ in. As a church, we are always ready for moments like this to witness for Christ. It didn’t take long for our worship band to prepare a set of songs appropriate to lift up Jesus for all to see and hear. Not only did it provide an opportunity for our Firstlight Fellowship church, but there were members of at least one other church who joined in with our worship band also: A great expression of unity of purpose. I know that there is a buzz both in and outside the church since the concert and everyone is talking about it. Conversations are now happening with the unsaved that weren’t there before. The Lord is making a way for His word to go forth.
This opportunity brought great exposure to the church and it gave each of our people a chance to witness for Christ on a larger scale than most. We are ‘upping our game’ by taking hold of the opportunities that are being presented to us like these. I know that there were lots of seeds sown on that day as we magnified the Lord with song. We are breaking through in places like this for the gospel regularly as we seek to lift Him up!
