But, we live so far away from those people in Thailand, and they are so different from us. Besides, we have plenty to do just tending to the orphans and widows in our own community.
How far is Heaven from the earth, and how different is God from us … or is He? Imago Dei. Doesn’t scripture tell us we are made in God’s image? So we do have something in common with God.
Eons ago God considered the desperate condition of His image-bearers, who were separated from Him and in desperate need. The council of the Trinity devised a plan to reach out to us and restore us into relationship with Himself. The plan called for the Ultimate Gift to be given, and then sacrificed — God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, would be born on earth and live among us in incarnational relationship as Emanuel.
Through incarnational ministries like Firstlight International, this same gift, Jesus, is being given away daily to the people of Thailand and the nations in that region. It has the same impact as it did 2,000 years ago, transformed lives.
As we enter into this Christmas season, your prayers and your gifts can help bring hope and life to those bearing God’s image in Thailand. Will you share that gift?
