As Jesus was making His triumphant entry into Jerusalem in John chapter twelve, He came in riding on a donkey’s colt. This was foretold long ago by the prophet Zechariah 9:9.

There was quite a crowd that was gathered, not only from those who had come to see Lazarus, the man that Jesus raised from the dead, but there were many who heard that Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem. (See John 12:1-19)

However, when these events occurred the Scripture says that the disciples did not understand that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. (See John 12:16) It wasn’t until Jesus was entered into His glory that they remembered His words!
