… The Signal Tower Is Up!

We are excited to have this opportunity to launch a local Thai Christian – Community Radio Station in Nong Bua Lam Phu, Thailand. The Lord has given us a wonderful Thai couple (Ajaan Beda & Ajaan Dow) who will lead this project forward in a plan to host weekly broadcasts locally within a 35 kilometer radius where Firstlight is planting churches and, in the future, through a web broadcast globally.

The project began as a dream of Ajaan Dow to someday have a Christian radio station in the area, to reach Thai families with the Gospel. This dream became a reality earlier this year as they joined our Firstlight Area Team in Nong Bua Lam Phu, Thailand.

Because the majority of our ‘target group’ is a non-Christian listening audience, we wanted to choose a name that would appeal to them. Therefore, Happy Life Radio FM 103.25 MHz was born. Under the leadership of Pastor Laore Rakprakhun, and our Firstlight Area Team in Nong Bua Lam Phu, Happy Life Radio will operate as a ministry of Firstlight Fellowship Church Network in Thailand. There are nine Thai people on the Board representing six Thai churches in the province. There are a lot of people from the Thai and foreign communities involved in the start up – Christian and non-Christian and already there is a feeling that something great is about to happen.

The initial phase has begun with the installation of the signal tower. According to the Thai radio broadcasting rules, we had to hold a week of D.J. Training with a group of about 20 people. The trainers were from the U.S. and from Thailand who also helped with equipment installation, set up and design of the station itself.

Pray for us during this next phase, as we work towards station registration and approval, name and logo registration, website design and launch, and for a completion of a 24-hour program schedule.
