Firstlight Area Teams gather for a fourth time in five years!

CERT training sessions

This is always a special time of the year when each of our Area Teams gather in one location, one time a year for fellowship, prayer, teaching, training and more! It is amazing to hear the reports about all that the Lord is doing in the locations where each of them serve.

This year’s annual event was special in that we had two of our newer Firstlight Fellowship churches attend along with a pastor of a possible a fifth church being added to the network by the end of this year. The work of Firstlight is prospering and God’s Kingdom is advancing in this region.

Praying over each team

The main focus of the training this year was on: CERT – Community Emergency Response Team training. In essence, it is disaster preparedness on how to assist as first responders in times of natural disasters: earthquakes, large-scale automobile accidences, and just your basic first response assistance to hurting people before the medical people arrive on the scene.

For the CERT training, our trainers were Dave and Sheri Pfeiffer from new Portland Oregon. They have years of ‘hands on experience’ in over forty countries and Shari is certified to train others on disaster preparedness. We have been sensing a need to be trained in this and we are glad that it has finally happened. I know that each of our Teams are now better prepared.
