I have always enjoyed coming into this time of year when one year is ending and a New Year is just ready about ready to begin.
On one hand, we are glad to see the year finally end if it was difficult to get through, and on the other hand, we might not want the year to end if things are going well — if you know what I mean. It is good to reflect on what did and/or what did not happen, but it is more important that we don’t get stuck there. Instead, that we move on towards what lies ahead.
Every calendar year is like that. It’s a time for us to reflect on or evaluate the previous year, and to focus on what could be as we imagine the future.
Friends, no matter what type of year you’ve had in 2013, awaiting us is a brand new year in 2014, ready to be lived in. It’s like stepping into fresh snow, ready to leave your footprint (leaving your mark if you will) on the canvas called today and every day that is in front of us.
The New Year holds much promise. Let us walk through it together. I am ready!
